Timeslip returns – and the countdown has begun
Groundbreaking ITV children’s series Timeslip is returning after 50 years, as a full cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions, featuring the cult classic’s original stars.
In 1970, ITV launched a new 26-episode science fiction series, which followed two children – Simon Randall (Spencer Banks) and Liz Skinner (Cheryl Burfield) – as they journeyed through a ‘time barrier’ that took them to the past and future.
Over the series, they would meet themselves and family members in different times of their lives, visit the Ice Box and the Year of the Burn Up, and encounter the dangers that science could present to our world. It was a show for children, but its adult approach to the subject matter means it’s still remembered and loved 50 years later.
In May 2020, on its 50th anniversary, Timeslip returns, along with its two original stars, in two brand new feature-length audio adventures on collector’s edition CD box set and download from Big Finish.

Decades after their childhood experiences passing through a mysterious ‘time barrier’ that could transmit people into the past and the future, two adults - Simon and Liz - encounter two youths from the 1980s... and realise the barrier is open again.
The two new stories included in the forthcoming Timeslip box sets are as follows:
The Age of the Death Lottery by Andrew Smith (due May 2020)
The War that Never Was by Marc Platt (due June 2020)
Producer of Timeslip, David Richardson, said: “I was seven years old when Timeslip was broadcast in 1970. It was a series far ahead of its time - about the dangers of technology in the wrong hands, of cloning and global warming. Fifty years later, it feels like a show about our world today.
“I’m delighted to welcome back the original cast from the TV series. Both Spencer and Cheryl have beautifully slipped back into their roles – if you’ll pardon the pun – and it genuinely feels like the years have just melted away. With a sparkling new young cast, including the brilliant Amanda Shodeko and Orlando Gibbs as new protagonists Jade Okafor and Neil Riley, once again it seems we are ready to explore the dangers our future might hold.”
Both Timeslip releases are available for pre-order now at £19.99 each as a collector’s edition CD box set or £16.99 each on download from the Big Finish website. Both volumes will remain at this price until general release when they will be available for £24.99 on CD or £19.99 on download.
Timeslip can also be purchased as a bundle together at the price of £38 as a collector’s edition CD box set and £33 on download. All CD purchases from the Big Finish website unlock a download exclusive from the Big Finish website and app.
