Thunderbirds Are GO - On Kickstarter!
One of the script editors and writers of Big Finish's Terrahawks range has announced a plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds in style - and he needs fans like you to do it!
Fifty years after Thunderbirds first hit TV screens, the iconic puppets will be making a spectacular return in brand new episodes thanks to Thunderbirds 1965, a project created by director Stephen La Rivière, supported by ITV, Sylvia Anderson, and the Gerry Anderson estate as represented by Jamie Anderson (the producer of our Terrahawks range).
The project makes use of audio recordings first released in 1966 which featured the series’ original voice cast as well as contemporary music and sound effects. Thunderbirds 1965 will see La Rivière and company film faithfully recreated puppets and sets using all of the classic Supermarionation techniques, and combine this with the original audio recordings to create three brand new video episodes in the distinctive Thunderbirds style.
Since its launch, the Thunderbirds 1965 Kickstarter has exceeded its base goal of £75,000 – this means that one new episode of classic-style Thunderbirds is poised to enter production. The team are now aiming to reach stretch goals that will allow for a further two episodes to be produced. There is still plenty of time before Thunderbirds 1965 ends its run on Kickstarter and in order to assist them in completing all three of their proposed episodes we suggest you visit their site, pledge, or simply spread the word!
