This Week at Big Finish
Catch up on all of the latest news and releases from the worlds of Big Finish!
February has arrived in force at Big Finish – and we've jumped straight into our latest batch of releases with the eagerly awaited Vienna: Series 3.
Starring Chase Masterson and Samantha Béart, this brand new three-disc box-set continues the legend of the galaxy's most glamorous bounty hunter, Vienna Salvatori (who originally appeared in the Doctor Who Main Range adventure Doctor Who: The Shadow Heart).
The new series sees Vienna on the straight-and-narrow with the help of new partner Jexie Reagan, in three new adventures by Ian Potter, Guy Adams and Steve Lyons. Along the way they bump into a variety of strange aliens and criminals, with guest stars including Terry Molloy, Elizabeth Morton, Stephen Fewell and Sophie Aldred. Check out the trailer below:
Get your copy today for the special price of just £20 on CD and £15 to download. From one space adventurer to another – this week we've brought details on Captain Jack Harkness' (John Barrowman) next Torchwood adventure in Torchwood: The Victorian Age – sporting a pair of rather fetching sideburns! The new story by AK Benedict sees Jack back in action in 19th Century London – where the fledgling Torchwood Institute faces a royal inspection from none other than Queen Victoria (Rowena Cooper)! Listen to the trailer below:
You can pre-order this March release today, or subscribe to the whole of Series 2 at the special introductory rate of £45 on CD and £40 to download which we're holding through to March 31st 2016. Series 1 is also available to subscribe to today.
There'll be more adventures through time later in 2016, with the release of Doctor Who – The Early Adventures Series 3. Returning to the era of the First Doctor, these four releases will see the return of Carole Ann Ford, William Russell, Maureen O'Brien, Peter Purves and Jean Marsh, along with the debut of Jemma Powell as Barbara, taking over from the dearly missed Jacqueline Hill, who Jemma portrayed in the TV docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time.
Stories from the third series include an encounter with the monstrous Shifts in Doctor Who: The Age of Endurance by Nick Wallace, the introduction of brand new companion Jospa (James Joyce) in Doctor Who: The Fifth Traveller by Phillip Lawrence, the Doctor meeting Niccolo Machiavelli (Mark Frost) in Doctor Who: The Ravelli Conspiracy by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky and a deadly encounter with an aggressive race of clones in Doctor Who: The Sontarans by Simon Guerrier – with Dan Starkey as the voice of the aliens!
You can pre-order the entire Third Series of Early Adventures today from the Big Finish website today, with each release available individually, or as part of a money-saving subscription. You can explore the entire Early Adventures range here.
Finally, we've looked ahead to one exciting new release in January 2017, in the form of The Prisoner: Volume 2. The new box-set based on the classic ITV series begins pre-production this week – and will feature the return of Mark Elstob as Number Six – a role originally portrayed by the late, great Patrick McGoohan.
To celebrate the new production, we're offering a once in a lifetime prize to one lucky winner and a friend. They 'll be invited to visit a studio recording of The Prisoner: Volume 2, meet the cast and crew, enjoy a Big Finish lunch and watch the action from the control room with director and producer Nicholas Briggs. Five runners up will also receive a copy of The Prisoner: Volume 2 on its release in January 2017.
To enter the contest, 'Priz-fans' can send us their thoughts on The Prisoner: Volume 1 to [email protected]. Reviews can take any form (be it a written review, video, novelty jingle etc); but all entries must be in by the closing date of Tuesday February 23rd. See here for more details, and good luck to all those entering.
That's all for this week, but join us soon for more brilliant new releases; and maybe a special offer or two! And don't forget – our February Listeners title Doctor Who: The Feast of Axos is still available to download now for just £2.99; featuring the return of the classic Third Doctor enemy and starring Colin Baker, Maggie Stables and John Pickard.
