Doctor Who: Doom Coalition 2 - Read the Reviews!
The latest Eighth Doctor box-set is available now - read the critics' thoughts on his latest team up with River Song!
Released earlier in March, Doctor Who: Doom Coalition 2 is the next epic instalment in the Eighth Doctor's ongoing saga, placing the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann), Liv Chenka (Nicola Walker) and Helen Sinclair (Hattie Morahan) in a rematch with the Eleven (Mark Bonnar); an insane Time Lord whose previous incarnations still exist in his head.
The latest battle begins with an encounter with a group of invading Voord, which places the TARDIS on the trail of a threat concealed within the Time Vortex! But this may be the least of the Doctor's worries; because River Song (Alex Kingston) needs the Doctor’s help on a distant planet…
The box-set is still available to buy and download at the special introductory price of £20 until March 31st 2016. Order your copy today and check out the critics' comments below:
'A great Big Finish release which has an absolute cracking twist that surprised me somewhat; this has just become another reason for you to start listening to Big Finish.'
Daniel Whitaker, Gallifrey Archive
'Ken Bentley has brought together a strong cast for this set, with some familiar Big Finish voices intermingled with newcomers to the range, and the cinematic audio experience is once again all-encompassing.'
Paul Simpson, Sci-Fi Bulletin
'Paul McGann is as always at the top of his game, but for me it is the combined female cast that deserves the highest accolade for this release. Nicola Walker and Hattie Morahan in particular are fantastic as the Doctor’s companions; they have a wonderfully supportive camaraderie and feel like well rounded characters who are given the space required to develop and grow.'
Emrys Matthews, Blogtor Who
'The original Doom Coalition was superb – this one is even better. The structure works like a dream and Helen Sinclair is really developed as a character. The stories work as part of a set and also as part of a greater whole, and like any good drama leaves questions to be answered – the biggest of all must surely be “who are the Doom Coalition?”'
Ed Watkinson, Planet Mondas
'From the gothic splendour of a blasted, barely functioning vortex scorched Tardis to the fractured streets of early twentieth century America, to the seething fury of the interior of an alien volcano and, well, Cornwall, Doom Coalition 2 gradually increases its grip on its listeners with each and every twist and turn of its astonishing design. It’s heady, intelligent, intoxicating drama performed by an exemplary cast and authored by writers with an innate understanding, and abiding love, of the Whoniverse. And it is absolutely wonderful…'
Tim Cundle, Mass Movement
