Celebrating John Hurt
This weekend, Big Finish are celebrating John Hurt's very special contribution to the Doctor Who mythos, and his award-nominated performance in The Invisible Man.
The much-missed Sir John Hurt became the War Doctor in 2013 when he starred in the BBC Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor. Big Finish took the opportunity to further explore this fascinating new character, releasing four box sets under The War Doctor series from 2015–2017.
With the Time War raging between the Time Lords and the Daleks, enveloping all of time and space in the conflict, the Doctor knew he could stand on the sidelines no more. To that end, he renounced his name and pledged to do what was necessary to bring about peace.
As both sides think the unthinkable, the consequences for the universe could be catastrophic. But the Time War must be won, at any cost…
