Lisa McMullin, writer of Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures – Girl Deconstructed, said: “Very fitting to hear this news on Father's Day as Girl, Deconstructed is centred around a father/daughter relationship. I wrote it for my dad when he was having a tough time with chemo and Covid so it's a particularly special one. The other nominees are so bloomin' brilliant — what a treat to be amongst them. And the winner is... Big Finish!”
Writer of Doctor Who: Peladon – The Truth of Peladon, Tim Foley said: “I'm delighted to have been nominated for a Scribe Award alongside some brilliant stories and writers. The real Truth of Peladon is just how many people are involved in bringing a script like this to life — so thank you to all the cast and crew for such a phenomenal job and making it sing. And, in Paul McGann's case, for actually singing. Haroon haroon haroon!”
Nicholas Briggs, writer of Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures –The Annihilators, said: “It’s lovely to be nominated for a Scribe Award for The Annihilators. The Third Doctor Adventures have become a real passion of mine, and I set myself the interesting task of staying faithful to the 7-episode format of those early Jon Pertwee stories, while also finding a new way of making such a long story earn its keep!”
Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – The Lost Resort writer, AK Benedict said: “I am THRILLED that The Lost Resort has been nominated for the Scribe Award. Writing a spooky tale for this TARDIS team fulfilled a childhood dream, especially as I got to write for my beloved Adric. Each of the other nominated stories are incredibly strong and I feel honoured to be among them.”
John Dorney, writer of Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures – Monsters in Metropolis, said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated for a Scribe Award, particularly alongside a fantastic collection of writers. It was, to coin a phrase ‘fantastic’ to write for the Ninth Doctor, and Monsters of Metropolis was one of my favourite scripts ever to write. Barnaby Edwards’ magnificent direction knocked it out of the park — what a cast! Such amazing work from Christopher Eccleston and Nicholas Briggs in particular. I’m really pleased it’s connected with people.”
