Suffering the effects of degeneration, the Doctor heads towards the end of the universe in search of answers. Instead, he finds his daughter - Jenny - and an Artist whose works appear to mark the end of every world they touch.

The Doctor stabilises into his Fifth form to join forces with Jenny and the Curator to solve the mystery of the Final Gallery and the art it has collected.

Georgia Tennant said: “I feel like I’m always working with Dad. It’s so nice to see a different side to him – he’s very impressive to watch. Also, I’ve known Colin since I was very small, so it was a little like being a kid back in the 1980s again. They haven’t changed and their rapport is pretty special. It was fun to try and find my space in that.”

Producer David Richardson said: “James Goss is a master at painting on a broad, sweeping canvas while telling intimate stories that strike to the very heart of the characters. This is no exception and the characters here are none other than the Doctor (now reverted to his Fifth incarnation), his daughter Jenny and the enigmatic Curator. It’s an intoxicating mix to mark the second instalment of this 60th anniversary celebration.”

Reviews

It's about consumerism, it's about the meaning of art, it's about what art means to the people around it and it's also just a damn fine story. I'm loving this journey through the loveliness of Doctor Who, celebrating 60 years.

Tin Dog Podcast

This is a fascinating hour of Doctor Who. There's some great meta commentary ... and the fact that it's framed from the Curator was a really nice surprise. The more I think about The Artist at the End of Time, the more I appreciate its themes.

Mr TARDIS

It’s a fun romp, filled with a solid, introspective plot and some great performances. Georgia Tennant and Colin Baker, in particular, really steal the show here, especially when they’re paired together. And it’s genuinely nice hearing Peter Davison act opposite his real-life daughter, Georgia. That little slice of reality gives the Doctor and Jenny’s relationship a very lived-in quality, and I’d love to hear more stories featuring the two of them.

Thoroughly Modern Reviewer

Entertaining and thought-provoking, this also might make you think what the true value of art is or it might make you think about Banksy shredding his artwork after someone has paid millions for it. James Goss is effortless at reproducing the classic Doctor. He’s had plenty of practise. We wait to see what happens next as it builds up to the 60th anniversary.
