Brigadier Bambera and her team have a colossal problem in UNIT – Brave New World: Fractures – story details are revealed today for this full-cast audio drama box set, due June 2025.
At the turn of the twenty-first century, UNIT is led by Brigadier Winifred Bambera (Angela Bruce, who first played the role in the 1989 Doctor Who serial Battlefield). By her side are Sergeant Jean-Paul Savarin (Alex Jordan) and Dr Louise Rix (Yemisi Oyinloye).
In their latest set of adventures, Fractures, this team have a major crisis to deal with. Cracks between dimensions unleash new and dangerous terrors into the world, not least a giant monster which runs rampage on the Yorkshire moors.
And, in the second of the three episodes, Bambera is reunited with an old comrade: Lieutenant Tomasz Zbrigniev. Once again played by Robert Jezek, Zbrigniev was previously seen in Battlefield (at which point he held the rank of sergeant), and here makes his audio debut.
UNIT – Brave New World: Fractures is now available to pre-order as a digital download to own for just £19.99, exclusively here.
The box set’s three thrilling episodes are:
Kaiju by Robert Valentine
Following an accident at High Skelton Research Centre, UNIT is called in.
The dimension-crossing experiments of Dr Hazel Wayward have created a catastrophic chain reaction within the lab, but even as Bambera, Savarin and Rix get the meltdown under control, the energy levels rise.
Something is coming through…
Debrief by Alfie Shaw
Summoned to Geneva HQ, Brigadier Bambera is reunited with her old sergeant, Tomasz Zbrigniev. A UNIT operation has gone horribly wrong and it’s up to Bambera to determine what happened. If she doesn’t... it will kill them all.
Shatterpoint by Mark Wright
Bambera and Savarin are under arrest – for murder!
The box set’s cast also includes Rakhee Sharma (The Bay), Lorne MacFadyen (Vigil), Kathryn Akin (Barbie), and Anne Odeke (Shakespeare’s Globe’s The Merry Wives of Windsor).
Script editor Robert Valentine said: “UNIT’s turn-of-the-century trio are back! It's a brand-new millennium, and Brigadier Winifred Bambera, Sergeant Jean-Paul Savarin and Dr Louise Rix are about to face a whole new world of dimension-smashing dangers.
“This is one of my favourite series to work on simply because I love the characters so much, and I always knew that if we got another box set or two with them, there’d be even more opportunity to explore their relationships while they go about defending the Earth from various threats.
“It's now the year 2000, and Fractures sees Bambera having to deal with a monstrous kaiju, meeting an old friend from the past, and facing an enemy who knows her better than anyone else. In other words, it’s business as usual... but something else is bubbling under the surface.”
Fractures will be followed in March 2026 by another set of adventures for Bambera and her team, entitled Knightfall. Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering both volumes together in a download bundle for just £38.
All the above prices (including pre-order and multibuy bundle discounts) are fixed for a limited time only and guaranteed no later than 31 August 2025.
