The Reckoning by Nev Fountain

When the TARDIS is stranded in the path of a neutron star, the Doctor, Peri and Turlough have to flee. They end up in seventeenth-century London, where another old friend, Christopher Marlowe, is trying to get out of a pact he’s made. 

Marlowe’s soul is on the line – but has Turlough also made a deal with the Devil… again? 

A Crucible of Queens by Lizbeth Myles 

In the aftermath of the Battle of Agincourt, the Doctor and Turlough find themselves aligned with opposing factions. Turlough befriends Charles, the Dauphin of France, while the Doctor is tasked with healing his father, King Charles VII. 

But two powerful women are also in play: the dauphin’s advisor Yolande, Duchess of Anjou, and his estranged mother, Isabeau of Bavaria. Can the TARDIS crew keep both queens happy – and keep their own heads? 

The Curse of the Duergar by Julian Richards 

Shieldmaiden Hervor braves the ghosts of her ancestors to claim her birthright, the sword Tyrfing. Made by the Duergar, the Dwarf kings of the below, the blade is cursed: once drawn, it must kill. 

Even the Doctor cannot resist the power of the sword, and to the horror of Peri and Turlough, he is forced to take a life… 

The guest cast of The Reckoning includes Nigel Fairs as Christopher Marlowe and Eve Winters as Tess. A Crucible of Queens guest stars Julie Dray as Yolande of Aragon, Debbie Chazen as Isabeau of Bavaria, Laurent Lafuma as Duke of Burgundy/Charles VI, Narayan David Hecter as Dauphin of France, Randy Guine as Sir Raynald de Charny/Phillipe, and Charlie Tighe as Man-at-Arms. 

And, The Curse of the Duergar’s guest cast is Lara Lemon as Hervor, Daniel Hawksford as Angantyr’s Ghost, Richard Clifford as the Shepherd, and George Naylor as Dvalinn.

Back in Planet of Fire, Turlough was ending his time with the Doctor and Peri was an innocent who barely knew what she was getting into. Now, we join the TARDIS at a point when Peri has loads of experience and Turlough has to get to know the Doctor all over again.  

“Peri acts as the peacemaker between Turlough and the Sixth Doctor. I see their relationship as a diametric opposite to the Fifth Doctor’s relationship with Turlough. The Fifth Doctor indulged Turlough and was almost god-like in his capacity for forgiveness. The Sixth Doctor is a lot more suspicious of people and sees Turlough very differently.”
