To the Four corners of the universe!
Released today from Big Finish Productions, it’s time tours and dinosaurs for Tom Baker and Louise Jameson in Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 10 Volume 2.
Whether they’re hitting the road with a time-travelling Thadeus Nook or digging for clues with Mary Anning, the Fourth Doctor and Leela are saving the universe once more in these two brand-new full cast audio dramas.
Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 10 Volume 2 is now available as a collector's edition box set (on CD at £24.99) and as a digital download (at £19.99), exclusively HERE.
The astonishing adventures are as follows:
The Tribulations of Thadeus Nook by Andrew Smith
It’s time for the trip of a lifetime! Come along on one of Thadeus Nook’s Time Tours. See history as it really was. Get to witness wars and assassinations! See barbarian warlords right up close!
The Doctor and Leela encounter a most enterprising young gentleman – using time travel for his own financial gain. The Doctor is horrified at the irresponsibility – but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Because Thadeus Nook is about to learn that history is often best left in the past.
The Primeval Design by Helen Goldwyn
Dorset, 1830. The Doctor has taken Leela to meet Mary Anning, the noted palaeontologist, but the duo immediately stumble into trouble.
A body has been found in unusual circumstances. Attacked by an animal... but one of a size unknown in the area.
It turns out some things might be better off staying buried.
Joining Tom Baker and Louise Jameson in the cast of these two stories are Brendan Murphy, Laura Riseborough, Kieran Bew, Lucy Briggs-Owen, Ian Conningham and many more.
Writer of The Tribulations of Thadeus Nook, Andrew Smith, said: “It’s the most light-hearted thing I’ve written for Big Finish. It’s comedic at the start but it gets more serious as it goes on though. If you want a comparison of sorts, it’s a bit like Donald Cotton in his Doctor Who stories, The Myth Makers and The Gunfighters, which start off like sitcoms but by the last episode are far more serious with more threat and greater consequences.”
Writer of The Primeval Design, Helen Goldwyn, said: “I hope it’s a really clear presentation of what a remarkable person Mary Anning was – that was my starting point. I did lots of research about her and her life, as well as her legacy. She was unrecognised in her time but she was so unusual for the era, being an independent woman, and when she meets Leela she sees a lot of parallels in herself with another strong woman.
“I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of who was the first person who found a complete fossilised skeleton? They must have thought it was a dragon or some mythical creature! We don’t have a record of it. Mary was extremely advanced for her time in her thinking – she had a strong concept of what was going on.”
Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 10 Volume 2 is now available as a collector's edition box set (on CD at £24.99) and as a digital download (at £19.99), exclusively here at the Big Finish website.
