Since 1999, Big Finish has been producing full-cast Doctor Who audio adventures, originally advertised with the tagline “experience a new beginning”. Now, to guarantee another 25 years of audio drama, it’s time for another new beginning.  

Over the past eighteen months, the entirety of the Big Finish operation has been undergoing a series of upgrades – from the stock control and distribution systems in the warehouse to the email newsletter and “store front” of the website itself at www.bigfinish.com.  

All these changes will futureproof Big Finish so you can continue to listen to the audio dramas you love well into the 21st century.  

We have taken on board all the comments and feedback from customers over the past few years and many requested features will be rolled out once the new website is launched, from 09:00 (UK time) on Tuesday 30 July. Some of the new features include:  

• Improved search functionality, to help you find what you’re looking for more quickly and more effectively 

• Low stock notifications, so you never need miss the last chance to buy a release 

• More flexible ways to save money with multi-buy discounts (replacing the old subscriptions and CD bundles)  

• More intuitive site navigation, with all releases now categorised by series, collection and genre  

The usual news, events, podcast and release information will remain on the new website as before. Gift cards purchased before the relaunch will also still be applicable afterwards.  

Plus, this is by no means the final version of the new website. It has been tested with a panel of listeners pre-launch who have provided some excellent feedback about future changes. So, stand-by to expect more developments and improvements.  

FAQs 

What do I need to do?  

At this stage, nothing. All your account information will be transferred to the new website, including your library of purchases.  

However, after relaunch, the first time you log in to www.bigfinish.com, you will need to reset your password (for security purposes).  

How long will the website be offline during the relaunch?  

We estimate the website may be inaccessible for up to an hour after relaunch, but it may be much less. If you are online and see the website pictured above, you’re looking at the new website. 

What will happen to my account?  

All your account information, including your download library, will be carried across. Downloads purchased in the last couple of days before relaunch may not show initially as we finish migrating the data, so please be patient and we will have them in your account as quickly as possible. 

Should I back up my downloads?  

We have always advised customers to download and retain backup copies offline. Please be aware that downloading within the Big Finish App does not constitute an offline backup. You should visit your account page via the website, and access the zips attached to each release in your purchase history. 

Will the Big Finish App still work?  

Although the Big Finish App will continue to play existing downloads, it will soon be decommissioned.  

To continue to enjoy listening to your audio drama purchases from 30 July, you will need to download the new Big Finish App after you’ve reset your password on the website. 

How do I download the new Big Finish App?  

The new Big Finish App can now be download from the Apple Store (for iOS 15 and above) here, and from the Google Play Store (for Android 10 and above) here. 

Although you can download and install the app now, it will not work until 30 July 2024, after the new website launches.
