The Big Finish Roundup
The first of our Big Finish Originals, exciting new information about the Time War and an opportunity to write for Big Finish? Don't miss out on any of the news in this week's Big Finish roundup.
On Monday we unveiled the artwork for Lady Christina, out in September. This year, Michelle Ryan reprises the role of Lady Christina de Souza at Big Finish. First seen in Doctor Who TV special Planet of the Dead, four new adventures of mystery and intrigue find the cat burglar with a lust for life back in action.
The finale of the three-part epic Blake’s 7: Crossfire came out on Tuesday. Avon, Cally, Dayna, Tarrant and Vila are plunged into a Federation in the midst of a turbulent civil war – how will the crew of the Liberator survive?
A brand new collection of Bernice Summerfield short stories is coming out this December, entitled Bernice Summerfield: In Time. And we were delighted to announce on Wednesday an opportunity to write a Benny story for inclusion in it.
From a rocky start at military academy to her sudden immersion in an alternative universe – via a variety of jobs and adventures on Dellah, at the Braxiatel Collection, and in the murky world of Legion – Bernice Summerfield is a woman who can be said to have lived more than one life. But one thing's for certain: wherever she is, Benny can always be counted on to right wrongs, get the job done and, sometimes, even have a good time along the way!
In celebration of 20 years of Bernice Summerfield – the first lady of Big Finish – Big Finish and the Time Ladies have an opportunity to write a short story for inclusion in the In Time collection. The winner will have their story published and released on audio, read by Benny actress, Lisa Bowerman, herself! The second series of the Time War has just wrapped and it recommences in July this year – and are we in for a treat, with more details released on Thursday. Along with Paul McGann and Rakhee Thakrar as Bliss, are Nicholas Briggs playing the Daleks and Jacqueline Pearce who returns as Cardinal Ollistra – a key player in Gallifrey’s battleplan in the Time War.
Also joining the Time War as Cardinal Ollistra’s right-hand officer is Nikki Amuka-Bird playing Tamasan, who Doctor Who viewers will recognise as the Glass Woman from the BBC TV Doctor Who Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time. And as the Time War gets more treacherous, the Time Lords become more desperate and they’ll use anything and anyone at their disposal… The Twelve (previously the Eleven played by Mark Bonnar in Doom Coalition and Ravenous) enters the Time War, played by Julia McKenzie.
ATA Girl, the first of our Big Finish Originals series, came out Friday. Created by Louise Jameson and produced by Helen Goldwyn, ATA Girl is a drama inspired by the real women of the Air Transport Auxiliary during WWII.
From the UK and beyond, a hundred and sixty-eight female pilots, alongside the men, transported a vast range of aircraft from the factories to the squadrons, sometimes flying in perilous weather conditions and without radios or instrument instruction.
And further story details were announced on Saturday for Jenny: The Doctor’s Daughter, out in June. Catch all the details here.
And that’s the news! Stay tuned for all the latest on the Big Finish sites, and on our social media Facebook Twitter and Instagram.
