Out Thursday, and reprising his unforgettable role in Doctor Who television episode, Utopia, ten years ago, Derek Jacobi as the Master is back in action. Find out what he got up to in the Time War in The War Master – Only The Good.
We had multiple other Doctor Who releases out this week, with the latest story in the Doctor Who Main Range out Tuesday. Static is a terrifying tale for the end of the year. The last in the Sixth Doctor, Flip and Constance trilogy, this story by Jonathan Morris is a rip-roaring tale that doesn’t let go from the beginning! Still trying to get Flip and Constance home, the Doctor stumbles upon temporal interference, and that’s when their worst nightmares begin…
Deep in the heart of nowhere, near a place called Abbey Marston, there’s a caravan site. The perfect place to get away from it all. Close by, there’s a stone circle they used for human sacrifice in olden times. A little further afield, there’s an old RAF research station, where they did hushhush things in the War. There’s only one rule: the use of radios, cassette recorders and portable televisions is strictly forbidden.
People come here to get away from it all, you see. No-one wants to hear the noise. No-one wants to hear the voices in the static…
No-one wants to hear the ghosts.
And Wednesday had the finale of Doctor Who: The Early Adventures series four, which reunites Zoe, Jamie and the Second Doctor in a tale from award-winning writer, Timothy X Atack. Wendy Padbury (Zoe Heriot) narrates The Wreck of the World. Starring alongside her is Frazer Hines as both the Second Doctor and Jamie McCrimmon.
Undergoing repairs in deep space, the TARDIS is caught in a collision with the huge, decaying wreck of a starship. Zoe, spacewalking, is separated from her companions in the crash, and the Doctor and Jamie wake to find the TARDIS fused to the side of the ship. Venturing inside to rescue their friend, they discover that they are on board The World, the very first colony ship to leave Earth, lost mid-voyage under unknown circumstances.
And they are not alone. A terrible suspension chamber is filled with dead, withered human bodies, and a team of gun-toting astronauts are stalking the corridors. But a far greater threat lurks deep inside. The terrifying force responsible for the scuttling of the ship is active once more – and if it can’t be stopped, it won’t just be the end of this World. It’ll be the end of all of them.
Monday had some exciting Third Doctor news with a story that Doctor Who fans have been asking for since 1974… the Third Doctor will face the Cybermen in The Third Doctor Adventures Volume Four. The recording is now finished on the latest volume, and the second tale is set to be an unforgettable adventure as the Cybermen make their Third Doctor debut in The Tyrants of Logic by Marc Platt.
And on Saturday we announced further details, covers and synopses of the Fourth Doctor Adventures Series Seven, starring Tom Baker and Louise Jameson. With two individual tales and an epic two-parter, these new adventures bring back some familiar faces as well as making some dark journeys into the mind (and who wouldn’t want to see inside the mind of the enigmatic Fourth Doctor?!).
Toby Hadoke continued his chat with Ghost Light star Ian Hogg and Nick and Benji chatted with Rufus Hound about all things Doctor Who.
And that’s the news! Make sure you stay in the loop by following Big Finish on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
