The ISPF hit the red carpet in Star Cops – Conflict: Shadow of the Moonlight, a full-cast audio adventure released today from Big Finish Productions.
Star Cops – Conflict, a brand-new audio drama miniseries set in the world of Chris Boucher’s cult TV series, continues today with Shadow of the Moonlight by Mark Wright.
With the International Space Police Force having caught the attention of the world’s media, a studio has made a movie about them, starring legendary actress Coral Goldfinch. But when her co-star is murdered, the Star Cops are called in to investigate, and find that this glamourous world has a dark underbelly.
This full-cast audio drama features original cast members from the TV series – David Calder as Commander Nathan Spring, Linda Newton as Chief Superintendent Pal Kenzy, and Trevor Cooper as Inspector Colin Devis.
Joining them is Philip Olivier as Inspector Paul Bailey, Lynsey Murrell as Inspector Alice Okoro, Ben Miles as Kenzy’s partner Howard Lesser, Samantha Boffin as movie star Coral Goldfinch, and Cameron Johnson as her security agent Jackson O’Neill.
Star Cops – Conflict: Shadow of the Moonlight is now available to purchase for just £8.99, as a digital download to own, exclusively here.
The murder of movie star Striker Torrance brings the ISPF to the Moon’s Rothchester-Remini hotel, where preparations are under way for the star-studded premiere of Shadow of the Moonlight, an action thriller where the lead characters are Star Cops.
Nathan bonds with iconic star Coral Goldfinch, while the team uncover tragedy and dark secrets beneath the Hollywood veneer. Why is Coral’s private security guard obstructing the investigation, and who is sending the star sinister messages?
Director Helen Goldwyn said: “This episode brings together the technological and scientific side of the Star Cops world with the world of entertainment that is still going on down on planet Earth. It’s really good fun to have those two worlds colliding. One of the best parts of this episode was getting to work with the fabulous Samantha Boffin as Coral Goldfinch, who delivers such a great, nuanced performance.”
Writer Mark Wright added: “I sent so many emails to Andrew Smith, our series script editor, begging to let me do a Star Cops, because I’m such a big fan of the original TV series. I was 15 when it started; I have very fond memories of running home for 8.30 on a Wednesday night to watch it. So, to work with Andy on the script, and to be in studio with three actors from the original series – who are just delightful and play off each other so well – it doesn’t get better than that!
“My original inspiration for this story was, there’s always talk of the next Bond movie or Mission: Impossible that they’ll film in space. I thought, with space technology and exploration expanding in the Star Cops universe, somebody would go and make a film in space. And there’s a hotel on the moon where there’s going to be a glitzy premiere because space tourism is becoming a big new thing now.”
The Star Cops will return in March in Prisoner and Escort.
