The truth is revealed in a story from the Great Detective’s old casebook, as Sherlock Holmes Untold, starring Nicholas Briggs and Richard Earl, continues today.
The second full-cast audio drama episode in the eight-part detective serial Sherlock Holmes Untold is now available for download.
Where we left off in last week’s first instalment, Doctor Watson (Richard Earl) is on a train with prime minister Jasper Cranfield (Christopher Naylor), recounting the story of a case he and Holmes (Nicholas Briggs) investigated many years previously.
The journalist Isadora Persano (Jason Forbes) is being troubled by sightings of his supposedly dead brother, covered in wriggling worms. What is the truth behind these strange occurrences, and how is Isadora’s sister Frances (Vineeta Rishi) involved?
These questions will be answered in today’s second episode, but the greater mystery connecting Holmes’ forgotten cases is only beginning to emerge…
Sherlock Holmes Untold is now available to purchase for just £24.99, exclusively here. This purchase will grant you access to all eight weekly episode downloads, as well as the complete serial as a box set download to own once all episodes have been released.
The Adventure of the Remarkable Worm - Part Two
Aboard the Prime Minister’s train, Dr Watson is telling a story, long suppressed, about a troubled young journalist, a dead man walking and a creature unknown to medical science.
And while the politician listens reluctantly to this tale from long ago, somewhere in the background of it all the closing moves of a quite different game are beginning to be played out.
Also in the cast of Sherlock Holmes Untold: The Adventure of the Remarkable Worm - Part Two are Luke Barton as Rosborough, Timothy Bentinck as Mycroft Holmes, John Banks as Moran, and Robert Whitelock as Anthony Kingsley.
Lead actor Nicholas Briggs said: “It is great to be back as Sherlock Holmes. I love doing it very much. We’ve set the standard with Jonathan Barnes writing. He came in fairly early to the range and then since then it never even occurs to us – sorry to the other writers – to get anyone else in. He’s our man. He knows the canon inside out and he always comes up with a new way of approaching it.”
Writer Jonathan Barnes added: “Doyle’s stories are often very sad, small, rather melancholy domestic stories. At the root of this story is what would have been a dilemma for many intelligent, accomplished women of the time. And, the seeds are there for the bigger story that’s going to emerge later on in the serial.”
There will be an ‘after show’ discussion for this episode in this week’s edition of the Big Finish Podcast, due to be released on Friday, with producer and presenter Iain Meadows joined by cast members Vineeta Rishi and Jason Forbes, as well as Michael Barnes and Mark Jones from the Sherlock Holmes Society of London.
Next week on Sherlock Holmes Untold, a young man is accused of the most appalling crime and seeks Holmes’ help to avoid hanging, in The Adventure of the Music Hall Hearties.
Sherlock Holmes Untold is now available to purchase for just £24.99 as a series of digital downloads to own, released weekly exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
All the above prices (including pre-order and multibuy bundle discounts) are fixed for a limited time only and guaranteed no later than 31 January 2026.
