Jekyll & Hyde & Briggs
Big Finish Executive Producer Nick Briggs has written and directed a stage adaptation of the classic horror story Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde... and it's touring the UK now.
A savage murder is committed on the streets of Victorian London. The MP Sir Danvers Carew is the victim. There’s only one suspect — Mr Edward Hyde. But no one knows who he is.
Inspector Newcomen of Scotland Yard pursues his only lead. He brings in the respectable lawyer Gabriel Utterson for questioning. But this line of enquiry opens up a dark and horrifying mystery.
At the centre of this strange case is a man whose downright detestable nature sickens all who encounter him to the point of insanity. His malign influence is spreading like a deadly cancer — and Gabriel Utterson must struggle to discover the impossible truth of it all…
Jekyll and Hyde by Nicholas Briggs is a brand new dramatic adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It’s a character-driven, face-paced, chilling melodrama, designed to be rip-roaring, gripping entertainment with thrills and shocks along the way. The pace is fast and furious with fluid scene changes crashing one location into another as we follow Utterson on his disturbing journey as he unpicks the terrifying truth of Dr Jekyll’s tragedy.
There's a preview video of it here...
Many loyal Big Finish listeners have asked if Nick will be adapting this theatre production into an audio version for the Big Finish Classics range, and we're happy to report that the answer to that question is yes. It's available for pre-order here and will be released in December 2017.
