JB Priestley's The Roundabout
See LIsa Bowerman on Stage in London...
You can see Lisa Bowerman and a number of Big Finish guest stars in The Roundabout, a comedy by JB Priestley (An Inspector Calls, Time and the Conways). The play is currently at the Park Theatre until 24 September.
Lisa is, of course, best known at Big Finish for playing Bernice Summerfield and as a director on a number of ranges including Jago and Litefoot, Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles, Short Trips and The Early Adventures. Also starring in The Roundabout are Brian Protheroe (Jago and Litefoot - Series 7, Eldrad Must Die!), Richenda Carey (Doctor Who: Plague of the Daleks, Prisoner of the Sun, The Cloisters of Terror, The Third Doctor Adventures) and Derek Hutchinson (Doctor Who: Dark Eyes 4, The Avengers: The Lost Episodes Volume 3 and The Omega Factor). The play is directed by Hugh Ross - aka Toby Kinsella in our Doctor Who spin-off Counter-Measures!
The Kettlewells are a dysfunctional family. Richard is an old Etonian whose business ventures are failing. Over one crowded weekend, his daughter Pamela, whom he hardly knows, returns from Russia, a passionate communist; his ex-wife and mistress both turn up; and his butler has a big win at the races.
The Roundabout is a funny, touching, highly perceptive look at England in the 1930s, when it looked, just possibly, as if the social order might be changing.
