Gareth David-Lloyd is Cardiff’s last hope in Torchwood - Ex Machina
Ianto Jones is the last man standing against paranormal activity in the ghost city of Cardiff, in this brand new full-cast audio adventure from Big Finish Productions.
Original TV series star Gareth David-Lloyd takes the lead in this latest exciting tale from the monthly series of Torchwood stories, alongside Laura Aikman as a girl who comes to him with a mystery to solve.
Torchwood has fallen before, and if Ianto doesn't work out what's going on, it's going to fall again.
Torchwood: Ex Machina is now available to own on collector’s edition CD (at £10.99) or digital download (at £8.99), exclusively from the Big Finish website.
Ianto Jones is Torchwood. Ianto Jones is the defender of a deserted city, a lone crusader who keeps the empty streets safe.
One day he meets one of the few survivors. She needs his help – because she’s being chased by a darkness. A darkness which says it loves her.
Producer and Script Editor James Goss said: “What if Ianto was in charge of Torchwood? What if, one better, Ianto was Torchwood? Sworn to protect Cardiff from aliens and dedicated to vengeance against those who killed the love of his life?
“It's a chance to experience Gareth David-Lloyd create Ianto as we've never experienced him before – less Escape from New York, more Escape From Cardiff.
“Alfie Shaw has given us an amoral gunslinger who still makes great coffee.”
Writer Alfie Shaw added: “Ianto's an interesting figure in Torchwood for me. He's got all this experience from Torchwood One, yet when we first meet him in Torchwood Three, he's this backroom guy. It's only as the series goes on that he gets to leave the Hub a bit more. In this, we isolate Ianto and get to show him being brilliant on his own. Although, Cardiff couldn't ask for a better defender! I mean, the suit, the coffee-making skills...
“It has been such a great time working on this with James Goss; he's been so supportive and insightful with his notes. I can't wait to hear the whole thing brought to life!”
Actor Gareth David-Lloyd said: “I loved it initially because Ianto’s in the Hub on his own. I thought: what a great idea. The stories get more and more original and they haven’t yet got any more unbelievable.”
