For the last three months, the Doctor's arch-enemy has been beside himself! There were twists and turns, futuristic revelations and changes to established history; and all three instalments are available to download now!
Check out some of the critics' comments on the recent stories below:
The trilogy opened with Doctor Who: And You Will Obey Me by Alan Barnes, featuring Peter Davison and Geoffrey Beevers. The Master's first scheme drew alien bounty hunters, Russian mercenaries and a group of meddling teens to the sleepy English village of Hexford; but just what was the Time Lord planning?
'Yet another triumph for the main range, beautifully constructed plot mechanics, excellently acted, tightly directed... a quite "Masterful" 10/10'
Ed Watkinson, Planet Mondas
'A brilliant story, a brilliant addition to the whole of the main range and I would totally recommend,'
'Here we have the Fifth Doctor and the Master as they always should have been. Friends, enemies, rivals, and – whisper it and be consumed in fire – brothers all rolled into one. To finally have a Fifth Doctor/Master story that works hard to go beyond surface-deep story telling is incredibly refreshing and lots of fun to listen to,'
Mez Burdett, Doctor Who Companion
Next up, Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor duelled Alex Macqueen's younger Master at the site of one of their classic encounters. With kidnapped scientists and experiments gone wrong, Doctor Who: Vampire of the Mind by Justin Richards had all the hallmarks of a classic Master-plan; but what what was the renegade really up to?
'This story is very clever in that it ties so much of the Master’s history with the Doctor into the Master’s Future with the Doctor and yet you could totally enjoy this story without knowing ANY of it. Which makes this tale one of the best possible scenarios for a new listener coming into a story involving these two,'
5/5, Jesse Kiefer, Grawlix Podcast
'The monsters are surprisingly effective... It would have been all too easy to have the Master hypnotising a bunch of locals to do his bidding, but when you learn who they are and what happened to them it adds an extra layer of ruthlessness that suits the villain perfectly,'
9/10, Mat Greenfield, Blogtor Who
'Colin Baker vs Alex MacQueen: A match made in heaven. MacQueen seems to be the go-to incarnation for meeting Doctors out of order... How can the Seventh Doctor not know who the Master is in future stories if he met him in his sixth life?'
9.5/10, Gustaff Behr, Doctor Who TV
The battle escalated to a galactic level for the final instalment, John Dorney's Doctor Who: The Two Masters. Both incarnations of the villain came together to wage war on the Rocket Men, Gorlons and a mysterious cult, as reality began vanishing around them. Could the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) possibly best two rivals at once?
'I think it’s safe to say that The Two Masters may be my favourite ever Doctor Who story, in any medium,'
101%, Daniel Whitaker Gallifrey Archive
'Up there with the best Big Finish Main Range stories, this conclusion to the Master trilogy is suitably epic... director Jamie Anderson keeps a firm hand on things... The scenes between Beevers and Macqueen are everything you’ve hoped for...'
10/10, Paul Simpson, Sci-Fi Bulletin
'A fantastic story that’s packed to the roundel-shaped rafters with action, treachery, betrayal, sabotage, dastardly apocalyptic schemes and bang on target classic Doctor Who cliff-hangers,'
Tim Cundle, Mass Movement
