Dark Shadows - New Stories!
Big Finish are pleased to announce a second collection of Dark Shadows short stories to be released this December.
Dark Shadows: Haunting Memories features four new stories read by members of the original cast – with Angelique herself, Lara Parker, writing for Big Finish for the first time.
The stories will feature subtle use of music and sound design and further details will be announced shortly.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, one of these stories will be Matthew Waterhouse’s Old Acquaintance which was originally to be released as part of June’s Echoes of the Past collection. Old Acquaintance has now been replaced by The Missing Reel.
In The Missing Reel, by Ian Farrington and performed by David Selby, immortal werewolf Quentin Collins meets a film collector. A film collector keen to find out what happened on the set of “The Werewolf’s Curse.”
'When the opportunity arose to pitch for a Dark Shadows short story,' says Ian, 'I was in a phase of watching a lot of silent films – Metropolis, Nosferatu, a great British film called Piccadilly – as well as recent movies about that era such as Shadow of the Vampire and The Artist. So the world was in my head when I started to think of a story. Quentin has always been my favourite character from the previous audio stories, and I wanted to see how he would fit into it. The Dark Shadows audio range has been in my life for a long time now. I was working at Big Finish, and was friends with the original producer Stuart Manning, when the series was launched. So it’s been brilliant to write something for it.'
'Old Acquaintance actually works better as part of the December release,' says co-producer Joseph Lidster, “so we hope the fans won’t be too disappointed at this unavoidable last-minute change. Ian’s story is absolutely brilliant and David gives one of his finest performances.”
A trailer for Echoes of the Past is also now available on the release page, or can be heard below:
