The Eighth Doctor is back - and it's all looking and sounding spectacular. With Dark Eyes 2 (the long awaited follow-up to the acclaimed, award-nominated Dark Eyes) set for release in the coming weeks, we thought it was time to show you the individual cover artwork and tease you with another, fuller trailer.
You can have a closer look at this pack-shot by clicking on the image, which shows the covers for all four of the instalments of Dark Eyes 2... The Traitor, The White Room, Time's Horizon and Eyes of the Master. The stunning artwork is by Damien May.
The trailer, which you can download by clicking on the 'download file' link at the bottom of this news item, features guest stars Ruth Bradley (as Molly O'Sullivan), Nicola Walker (as Liv Chenka), Natalie Burt (as Sally Armstrong) and Alex Macqueen (as the Master) - with a special, brief snippet of cameo guest star Frank Skinner (well known to UK audiences).
'This is possibly the most hotly anticipated Big Finish release since The Light at the End,' says executive producer (and director of Dark Eyes 2). 'And it takes the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann, off in an entirely new direction.
'With Paul having appeared on screen again as the Doctor, interest in his incarnation has gained momentum,' continues Nick. 'His enthusiasm for the role is unabated.'
Attendees at recent Big Finish Day 4 event would have witnessed Paul and Nick on stage together, comparing texts on their phones, as they recalled their first conversation about whether or not Paul should do Night of the Doctor.
'He asked me, saying, rather flatteringly, that he trusted my judgement,' says Nick. 'I said, "You should do it!" and luckily, Paul listened. I know he really enjoyed the experience.'
There is, of course, still a long way to go before the events of the Dark Eyes series (or indeed any future Eighth Doctor audios) catch up with the events of Night of the Doctor. If you haven't yet caught up with the events of Dark Eyes, just click on the title to catch up now.
Meanwhile, here's what's coming up in Dark Eyes 2...
When the Doctor defeated the Dalek Time Controller and its Time Lord ally, the timelines shifted and events changed... but the danger is far from over. And new threats to the continued safety of the universe are emerging.
Molly O'Sullivan carried on with her life as a nursing assistant in World War One. She probably thought she would never see the Doctor in his 'Tardy-box' again...
From the Dalek occupied planet Nixyce VII through Earth's history and to the very edge of the universe, the Doctor's footprints across eternity are being tracked by foes old and new. But when did it all begin and when will it end? Living his life through the complexities of time travel, the Doctor can never be quite sure if he's experiencing his life in the most helpful order. The only certainty appears to be the advance of the powers of evil and the oncoming threat of a fight to the death against forces that would destroy everything the Doctor holds dear.
