Tosh plays the End Game
It’s the end of the world for Tosh in a brand-new Torchwood audio drama, released today from Big Finish Productions.
Naoko Mori returns to the role of Torchwood’s tech genius Toshiko Sato (which she originally played in the BBC TV series from 2006 to 2008) in Torchwood: End Game, a full-cast audio drama available now.
In End Game, the first story featuring Tosh in over a year, she is Torchwood’s representative in a team tasked with averting a simulated global crisis.
Working with her are government ministers Frank Reece (Greg Wise, known for The Crown and Sense and Sensibility), Gerard Marsh (Ed White – Doctor Who: The Devil’s Chord), and Jasmine Jenning (Jolade Obasola – Top Boy). The simulation computer is played by Tatjana Nardone (The Winter King).
This may be a routine government exercise, but the stakes for Tosh will become more serious and personal than she expected…
End Game also marks the Big Finish debut of writer Tom Black, who has experience in crafting disaster simulations for immersive theatre and for Channel 4’s Make Me Prime Minister. It is directed by Scott Handcock (script editor of 2024’s Doctor Who TV series).
You have been brought to Secure Control Room B to respond to a simulated emergency.
You will be able to issue orders and make real time decisions in a disaster scenario.
Welcome to the end of the world. Shall we begin?
Torchwood: End Game is now available to purchase as a collector’s edition single-disc CD (+ download for just £10.99) or as a digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively here.
Actor Naoko Mori said: “It’s Torchwood in an escape room, a panic room. I'm really claustrophobic, so as soon as I started reading this script, it was not a comfortable read. But you can always depend on Tosh. She's one of those people who will always sacrifice herself for everyone else.”
Writer Tom Black added: “I first designed disaster scenarios for an immersive theatre show called Crisis? What Crisis? a few years ago. The audience had to take part in an increasingly chaotic set of challenges that they needed to fix themselves.
“I think in real life Tosh would do okay, as she's very smart. She’s capable of seeing the big picture in a way that not all of the Torchwood Three team can when under pressure, and that's what excited me about putting her into this kind of scenario.”
End Game is also available as part of a six-release Torchwood – Monthly Range multi-buy bundle for just £60 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £50 (download only). A 12-release multi-buy bundle is also available for just £110 (collector’s edition CD + download) or £96 (download only) exclusively here.
