Alice Krige pursues Jo Martin across space and time in The Fugitive Doctor: Dead or Alive, a brand-new box set of full-cast audio drama, released today.
When we last caught up with the Fugitive Doctor (Jo Martin) on audio, in January’s Most Wanted, she was fleeing from her former employers the Division and their dogged agent Cosmogon (Alice Krige). That chase continues in her latest set of adventures, Dead or Alive.
Along the way, the Doctor encounters a Spitfire lost in the time vortex, then explores a junkyard full of time machines. Finally, Cosmogon catches up with her target, only for the two Time Lords to find themselves prey to a Great Vampire!
Doctor Who – The Fugitive Doctor: Dead or Alive is now available to purchase for just £18.99 (download to own) or £22.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be repressed.
The Fugitive Doctor’s three fast-paced flights across the universe are:
Flying Solo by Tajinder Singh Hayer
Pilot Officer Mohinder Singh Johal is an RAF pilot on a sortie during World War Two. Following a close encounter with a flying blue telephone box, his Spitfire vanishes!
The Doctor, whose TARDIS is out of control following a blast from a time disruptor, should be keeping a low profile, but with Mohinder lost in time and space, she has to help bring him home.
The Junkyard Loop by Aaron Douglas
The Doctor, pursued as ever by Cosmogon, crash-lands the TARDIS on an off-grid junk planet littered with the remains of time machines from a thousand civilisations.
After being saved from the indigenous Time-Frost Parasites by Sodalis, an old companion long-marooned, the Doctor must come up with a plan to save them both. But a sinister Division commander has tracked our heroes, and not even Cosmogon can stand between him and his desire to unlock the Doctor’s memory and obtain the secrets within.
Hereafter by Tim Foley
Cosmo has finally captured the Doctor! But they’re stranded together on a planet thanks to an unusual psychic forcefield grounding her ship.
Tracing its source, they find a settlement that’s preparing for a festival in honour of their ‘queen’ in the mountain.
When Cosmo is captured, the Doctor must decide whether to help her captor... especially now she’s discovered, thanks to local woman Herma, that the queen and her minions are vampires!
In Flying Solo, Raj Ghatak plays World War II pilot Mohinder Johal, and John Dorney reprises the role of Alexander the Great, who he previously played in The Lost Stories: Farewell, Great Macedon.
In the following two episodes, Alexander Vlahos (The Confessions of Dorian Gray) guest stars as Division commander Zetorius, Terence Wilton (Doctor Who: Invasion of the Dinosaurs) plays Astrabar, and Clare Perkins (The Outlaws, Doctor Who Redacted) is the voice of the vampiric Queen Verdilla. The box set’s guest cast also includes David Holt, Charlotte Palmer, Abbie Andrews, and Gunnar Cauthery.
Jo Martin said: “Flying Solo is a really strong episode. I think it’s so lovely when we can revisit history, the stories that weren’t told to us in school.
“We’ve been on a journey with the character Cosmogon – she’s my enemy, she’s chasing me. She’s a pain in the butt! But we come together in Hereafter, and I think it’s quite beautiful. I wouldn’t say we’re friends, but we have a mutual understanding!”
Writer Tim Foley added: “I wanted to focus on the relationship between the pursuer and the pursued, and to dive into Cosmogon’s backstory. And as this is the end of a six-story run, there had to be a suitable climax. This isn’t the Doctor we know and love, so when a Great Vampire rears its head, whose side is she going to take?”
Praise for the previous Fugitive Doctor box set, Most Wanted:
“Jo Martin seems to have only gotten better in her role since Fugitive of the Judoon, and hopefully she’ll be with Big Finish for years to come.”
Who Review“A brilliant and thrilling audio drama, one that keeps you hooked from start to finish.”
